Day wise Travel Itinerary
Day 01: Cochin Arrival
Arrive at Cochin: - On arrival at Cochin you will be welcome by Trojan Holiday’s travel assistant and later get transferred to your hotel. A city tucked in the beauty of coconut palms and endless blue waters is one of the important towns in South India, with a natural Harbor. Cochin - Kochi (colonial name Cochin) is a vibrant city situated on the south-west coast of the Indian peninsula in the breathtakingly scenic and prosperous state of Kerala, hailed as 'God's Own Country'. Its strategic importance over the centuries is underlined by the sobriquet Queen of the Arabian Sea. Informally, Cochin is also referred to as the Gateway to Kerala.
Day 02: Cochin – Munnar (140 kms by road)
From Cochin to Munnar: - On the 2nd day have breakfast and proceed to Munnar. The journey to Munnar is filled with amazing sights of Valara, Cheeyappara waterfalls, Karadippara view point, low flying clouds, dew drenched forests, & foggy valleys. After the awe-stuck drive from Cochin to Munnar, take rest on arrival at Munnar resort. In the evening go out for shopping, local sightseeing, and spend the time on leisure.
Day 03: Munnar Hill Station Sightseeing
3rd Day Munnar Discovery: - Trojan Holiday’s representative will assist you after breakfast; for the 3rd day itinerary. It is a tribute to fascinating attractions of Munnar beloved as the Kashmir of South India.
Day 04: Munnar - Periyar (150 kms by road)
Drive from Munnar to Periyar: - Morning drive on a beautiful track dabbed with estates of rubber, cardamom, cocoa, green pepper and areca nut, to the untamed life hold at Periyar. Arrive at Periyar and check into your lodging.
Day 05: Periyar – Kumarakom (140 kms by road)
Drive from Periyar to Kumarakom: - On the 5th day the Palm & Backwater tour gets romanticized; with the drive to Kumarakom, the land of backwaters. On arrival at Kumarakom, check into backwater resort and rejuvenate self amidst Ayurvedic therapies, lake view, as well as leisure activities.
Day 06: Kumarakom – Alleppey Backwaters Magic (50 kms)
By road from Kumarakom to Alapuzzha: - On Arrival leave on your private houseboat and sail across on the Backwaters, an awesome region full of trenches, canals, lakes and inlets.
Cruise on Kettuvallam: - The houseboats or "Kettuvallam" are lavish boats with lavishly designed rooms and attached bathrooms. You can sunbathe on the deck or watch the palm fringed sleepy villages from your cabins. Separated from the exotic sceneries it’s the life along the coast that adds a touch of exotica to this experience.
Day 07: Alleppey – Kovalam (By road – 190 Kms)
In the morning after breakfast disembark the boat, and drive to Kovalam - is one of the most popular beach hangouts in India. Kovalam means a grove of coconut trees and truly the coconut trees along the beaches gives it a ravishing look. The palm-fringed bays in secluded coconut groves, promise a relaxed stay. The boundless blue waters of the Arabian Sea and miles of white sands washed away by the surf at the feet of the stalwart palms and the rocky promontories, makes this beach paradise. On arrival, check in at the Hotel. Rest the day is free at leisure on the beach, may take Ayurvedic massage or treatment at the hotel on direct payment basis. Overnight in the Hotel.
Day 08: Kovalam - Kanyakumari – Kovalam
After breakfast same day excursion to Kanyakumari (87 Kms) - is the southernmost point of peninsular India and the meeting point of three oceans-the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean. Besides its importance as a Hindu pilgrim center, it is famous for its beautiful views of sunrise and sunset over the waters. The multicolored sand is a unique feature of the beach here. Visit Vivekananda Rock Memorial. This memorial to Swami Vivekananda was built in 1970. Vivekananda was a social reformer and saint of modern India. He is supposed to have meditated on the rock where the memorial stands. Ferry service is available to reach the rock memorial Visit the Sangam which is the meeting point of the three major bodies of water, the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean. Drive back to Kovalam. Evening free to relax at beach, overnight at the Hotel.
Day 09: Kovalam – Trivandrum - Colombo (Arrival) – Kandy ( by surface) ( duration 2hr 30 min)
After breakfast check out from the hotel and drive to airport to board your flight to Colombo.
Arrival at Colombo International Airport., after clearing the immigration met by our representative andtransfer to Kandy. Check in at the hotel. In the evening, watch a cultural show of traditional Sri Lankan performing arts, featuring a series of ritual dances and fire walking. Return back to the hotel and rest of the day free at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel in Kandy.
Day 10: Kandy – Pussellawa( duration 45 min) – Nuwara Eliya( duration 35 min) (by surface)
After breakfast check out from the hotel.and proceed for sightseeing tour of Kandy (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). The Kandyan kingdom, the last bastion of the Sri Lankan political power against the colonial forces, is the home for the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and the site of one of the world’s most impressive annual festivals – the Esala Perahera. The Temple contains the most sacred relic of the Buddhists today and the most precious of Sinhalese pride. The upper storey houses the sacred relic and a library containing 800 year old palm leaf religious manuscripts. The Pooja (ceremonies of veneration) are held at dawn and dusk daily and these are moments when the Temple comes to life with pilgrims making offerings of flowers amidst clouds of incense and the beating of traditional ritual drums. The city is visually rich with its narrow streets lined with characterful old buildings. The market has a good display of traditional arts and craft, textiles and gems & jewellery. The lake built by the last Sinhala King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1798 is still a focal attraction.
Day 11: Nuwara Eliya – Welimada (duration 30 min) - Bandarawela(duration 30 min) (by surface)
After Breakfast check out from the hotel. and proceed for the to tour of Sita Amman Temple. According to legend, the temple is believed to mark the spot where Sita was held captive by King Rawana. Ancient statues of Rama and Sita can be seen with paintings, pillars decorated with sculptures, all depicting the tale of Rama and Sita. The rear of the temple overlooks a stream, while from its front Hakgala peaks can be viewed.
Day 12: Bandarawela – Ratnapura (duration 1hr 35 min) – Colombo (duration 2 hr)(by surface)
After breakfast check out from the hotel and proceed to Ratnapura. Ratnapura is the fabled city of gems. Its name remains unchanged over the years and means “city of gems”. In Ratnapura prospecting and mining goes on every day. Witness a gem mine and a museum. Sitawaka, situated near Avissawella on a tributary of the Kelani River, derives its name from Sita, who is supposed to have been imprisoned by Ravana in a grove in this neighbourhood.
Day 13: Colombo – Chilaw(duration 1 hr 35min) – Negombo (duration 50min) (by surface)
After Breakfast check out from hotel and proceed to visit the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya, which was a Buddhist Temple built in the 3rd century B.C. Kelaniya was one of the three places visited by the Lord Buddha. Within the Kelaniya Temple there is a special shrine dedicated to Vibushana, king Ravana’s brother, who allied with Rama in the struggle to rescue Sita. During the Ravana regime Vibushana was in charge of Kelaniya.
Day 14: Negombo – Colombo / Departure (by surface) (duration 50min)
After breakfast check out from the hotel and get transfer to Colombo Airport for the departure. Tour ends with sweet memories
